Time's Joe Klein: Yes, Glenn Beck, Sarah Palin are near sedition
"During an appearance Sunday on NBC's "The Chris Matthews Show," Klein said that much of the heated political rhetoric "especially the ones coming from people like Glenn Beck and to a certain extent Sarah Palin, rub right up close to being seditious."
Isn't it ugly what decades of intellectual dishonesty can do to a man's brain?
His remarks were specifically in reference to Beck, and Palin's favorable commentary on the TEA party. I know that this is going to be rather like trying to explain Calculus to Ozzy Osbourne, but I'm going to try to explain this in simple enough terms that even Joe Klein can follow. Here goes...
Here's your problem, Joe. You are laboring under a false premise. You assume that you can neutralize the TEA partiers by taking out its leaders. After all, it worked pretty well when you took out Newt Gingrich back during the late 1990's. But it's a little different this time. The TEA partiers aren't led by a charismatic leader. That's pretty much a Liberal/Progressive/Democrat thing. Consider this story from My Way News:
Poll: 4 out of 5 Americans don't trust Washington
"Public confidence in government is at one of the lowest points in a half century, according to a survey from the Pew Research Center. Nearly 8 in 10 Americans say they don't trust the federal government and have little faith it can solve America's ills, the survey found."
The thing about it is, the TEA partiers distrust Republicans ALMOST as much as Democrats. They aren't motivated by leaders, but by closely held beliefs. If you do manage to take out Beck or Palin or Michele Bachman you're just going to piss them off even further.
But go right ahead and keep trying. I'm enjoying the Hell out of watching you Liberal/Progressives twist and squirm in impotent outrage.
