The alphabet media was predictably quiet this weekend on a couple of stories. The first was the latest scandal with ACORN, the criminal enterprise closely associated with the Obama Administration (spare me the howls of outrage at that characterization all you Libs out there. Cheap shots are your stock in trade. Get used to me using your own tactics against you.) The other was the "Tea Party," in Washington on Saturday.
The sycophant press reminds me of one of my nephews when he was just a tyke. When a scary movie came on TV he would cover his eyes with his hands and peek between his fingers. The boy outgrew his childish behavior. NBC hired Keith Olbermann.
What little reaction there was to the Tea Party can be fairly characterized as, "Oh look at the troglodyte Conservatives. They're throwing a little mad fit. Isn't that just so cute?"
That's fine, guys. Keep telling yourselves what you need to hear in order to cope.
I was offered a seat on one of the buses. I had to turn it down due to other obligations, but I may well go on one at another time. I know several of the people who went. They are middle class professionals and small business owners who have never protested anything before in their lives. For most, politics are distasteful. They paid their own way and they protested peacefully. Not a single window was broken. Not a single arrest was made. Sure, there were a few wingnuts in the crowd, but that's always going to be the case. The Tea Partiers were there because they are genuinely afraid for the future of the country they love. Disagree with them if you will, but you disregard them at your peril. For every one you saw in DC, there were a hundred more just like them back at home.
You guys in the Administration and the press keep right on peeking between your fingers. Sooner or later reality is going to reach up and bite you on the ass.
