So much for instilling the world with a sense of awe. From TimesOnline:
"Chicago’s dismal showing yesterday, after Mr Obama’s personal, impassioned last-minute pitch, is a stunning humiliation for this President. It cannot be emphasised enough how this will feed the perception that on the world stage he looks good — but carries no heft"
Perhaps now "The Redeemer," will come to realize that the last election was as much about firing Dubbya as it was about electing him.
An awful lot of good people voted for Obama because of his soaring rhetoric. They wanted to believe that he would unite us as Americans and heal the painful wounds that festered in the latter part of Dubbya's second term. But all we've seen, so far, is a continuation of the presidential campaign with an endless stream of appearances and speeches.
I say, "enough!" Use this as a learning opportunity. Quit speechifying and lead. Start unifying the country instead of belittling those who speak out against your ideas. Be the president of all the people, not just your ever shrinking number of fawning admirers.
I was one of the few Conservatives willing to give you the benefit of the doubt. I'm starting to feel pretty damned foolish for that.
